ENGLAND CHASER TO TAKE JOB AT HOGWARTS
Despite only just signing his contract to join the England team six months ago it appears that this one in a life time opportunity is not enough for Chaser Alec Fletcher. Instead, he has opted to go after another ‘once in a life time’ experience and shall be returning to the halls of Hogwarts School as their new flight instructor and quidditch coach when the new term begins. This should not come to as a surprise to any former classmates though as during his time at the school the former Ravenclaw made quite a reputation for himself on the pitch as one of the best players the school has ever produced. Although this will make him one of the youngest faculty members the school has ever taken, there are no doubts within the school as to his ability to take on the job. When asked about his decision to leave and abdicate his title to former star student, current instructor Abram Hocksley stated: “I have never been more sure about a decision. Since the untimely passing of our great Headmaster, and friend, Albus Dumbledore I have felt a need to spend more time at home with my family. Passing on this task to Alec allows me to do that. He has the right attitude and enthusiasm to inspire these kids during such troubling times and well, you’ve seen him play, we know he’s got the skill.”
However, Hocksley’s bold choice has not received an entirely welcome reception. Since the announcement to the students there has been more than their fair share of complaint letters sent into the schools administration. It seems as though the idea of having someone who has just passed the grade himself teaching others does not sit well with some of the more experienced flyers out there. Sources report that there have even been a few offers from other school alumni to take his place but the school’s faculty are sticking by their soon to be former colleague’s choice.
Yet, in spite of the controversy surrounding his instating Alec Fletcher seems unmarred. In a recent post game interview Fletcher talked openly and optimistically about his future at the school: “To be honest I just feel privileged to have even been considered in Abram’s head when trying to think of whom to replace him. Whilst I was at Hogwarts he taught me everything I know and without him I wouldn’t have achieved half of what I’ve been able to today. He is a dear friend and being able to continue his legacy in this way really does give me a great joy. ... Sure, I will miss my team mates and the joy of representing my country in such a way but there is so much still to learn out there and I’m sure if I’m going to learn anywhere it’s going to be through this experience with Hogwarts, after all it is where I have learnt everything else in my life.”
So it shall just have to be a matter of time for us to wait and see how the now ex-England star fares returning to his academic settings. But, if his teaching skills are anything near as good as those he’s demonstrated whilst playing for his country, it seems a safe bet he’ll do himself justice.
